Why I like Perumal Murugan

I like tamil writer Perumal Murugan for two reasons.

1. He exposed the hypocrisy of the dravidian parties when it came to dealing with casteism.
2. He exposed the lack of unity among Tamil writers when they failed to stand in unison to support him during his hour of need.

The communists,  the rationalists headed by Veeramani of the D.K. et al squared a big zero when they came to know that it was the people from Gounder community who opposed the writer and not the right wing government.

The tall claim that the rationalist leader E.V.Ramasamy Naicker had abolished the caste system came to a nought when the economically and numerically strong Gounder community came together to oppose Perumal Murugan.

Oh yes, there is an insult to the injury as well. Ramasamy Naicker was from Erode, that falls under the Kongu belt where Perumal Murgan was opposed tooth and nail.

I don’t support the ‘culture police’ part but I am happy that this incident has helped bring out the hypocrisy of ‘abolishing caste’.
