Shining in the night

Recent edition of Singapore Business Review says that in Singapore, four out of ten people in the financial services sector have been woken up in the night by a phone call from a colleague or a client. Six in Ten have been disrupted during their annual vacations, eight in ten have had their week ends disrupted by work related calls.

43% of employees in the financial services are contactable in the night in Singapore.

8 / 10 people work over their contracted hours.

3 / 10 people in the financial services work 51 to 60 hours per week on a average.

With the result that while taking calls in the washrooms, most of the phones are dropped into the urinals and bowls.

When it is not possible to even visit the rest room without being called to answer a phone, what does one achieve ?
